The Sun is completely hidden only along a narrow band on Earth. The bright line on the globe is its center, the band around it is where the Sun vanishes entirely, and inside the blue outline it looks partly bitten.
A lunar eclipse has no band: everyone who can see the Moon sees the same thing at the same moment. So for lunar eclipses the globe gives way to a diagram of the Moon crossing Earth's shadow.
